Graduates

We recruit around 100 graduates throughout the year, across all parts of our business including business/technology consulting, software/electronic engineering and data analysis/modelling.
As a consultant, you'll get involved in a range of business transformation projects, which could involve delivery of a range of technical solutions, business process improvements or data modelling/analysis. Areas of engagement could include fraud detection, security or customer relationship management. No two projects are the same, with some lasting days and others weeks. All, however, will be intellectually demanding and require you to be adaptable to constant variety.
Our Electronic Systems Group provides the capability to design, build and install world leading technology. As a Software or Electronic Engineer, you will develop hardware and software solutions for government, telecommunications and financial services clients. Typical products include gigabit speed packet processing platforms, software radio systems implementing advanced signal processing techniques and high speed floating point computation engines. Whether you have a relevant degree in engineering, physics or applied mathematics, you will get the chance to deal directly with clients, as well as develop leading-edge new technical skills.
For all roles, you will need a strong affinity with technology and its application in a business setting. You will typically have a strong set of A-Levels (or equivalent) and will be expecting or already have a minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a numerate discipline. We also have a long history of recruiting post doctorate students.
Unlike some other graduate schemes you will not be restricted to a rigid rotation programme but rather you will be expected to shape your own career supported by your career mentor.

Is the application process for graduates the same as for other recruits?
The process is pretty much the same as for our experienced hire candidates. After sending in your CV, if you are put forward for consideration you will be contacted to arrange a 10-15 minute phone interview to go through your CV in more detail. This will be conducted by a member of our HR team who will ask you about your interest in Detica and what you think you can bring to the company. After that the process is the same — a formal 45-60 minute first interview and a two-hour long second interview that will include verbal case study questions and a 20-minute presentation conducted by you on a topic of your choice. All of our interviews are competency based.
