Compliance & Risk
Regulatory compliance is one of today's strategic challenges. New regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the PATRIOT Act, the Basel II Accord, the Proceeds of Crime Act and the revised European Money Laundering Directive mean companies must better manage the risks associated with corporate fraud, money laundering, terrorism, credit default and operational failure.
One thing these regulations have in common is that they create a need for organisations to improve the way they exploit the data they hold in disparate systems across the business. Under Basel II, for example, there is now a requirement to understand and manage risk exposure at an individual customer level. A centralised warehouse of customer information, feeding new analytical and reporting processes, is a typical solution.
What we do
We provide clients with a range of services aimed at helping them design and deploy robust, flexible compliance systems. This includes:
- Auditing and fixing data quality - In addition to improving data quality, we also 'design in' quality assurance to prevent similar problems arising in the future.
- Fast-tracking data warehouse construction - This enables it to be conducted in parallel with, and prior to finalising, regulatory modelling and reporting requirements. Our approach integrates and re-models existing data warehouse infrastructure rather than starting from scratch, thereby providing an opportunity to make considerable savings in time, cost and resources.
- Improving risk analytics - We take an open and flexible approach to risk data mining and modelling tools and techniques. As experts in advanced analytics and the many different software toolkits on the market, we can help organisations develop a best practice approach to model building and deployment.
- Improving risk mitigation - We help clients analyse large volumes of transaction and customer data for evidence of insider or external fraud and other anomalous, high-risk behaviours. In addition to structured data, ie databases and spreadsheets, we can also deal with the "new frontier" of unstructured e-mail, phone call and instant messaging data.
